the first and by far most important happening to report is that dice lives in central america. it lives on the floor in the morning on our stomachs before sleepy backpackers crawl out of their hostel bunks. it lives on a crowded bar beneath countless hands reaching for their 50 cent beers. it lives at 4:30am provoking laughter, banging & inappropriate jokes at higher decibels than should be tolerated at that hour. it will live in the rich coast, thats for sure! it lives in the hands of jews, germans, canadians, panamaƱos, and all-american yours truly. the best part about such dice enthusiasm here, is that just like ant poison, this is going home to the nests and before you know it the queen will have six dies stashed in her crown at all times.
the title of this post is really the content of my life right now. i hardly leave the hostels, much less keep track of what day it is. morning conversations are for deciding whats for dinner. afternoons are for lounging in bikini tops and bare feet and throwing all my energy into the signs i am making. after that, someone does the shopping. with sticky cutting boards and handleless pots and a temperamental stove we more than manage meals for the family that make everybody say mmm. such passion for detail. so many reasons not to leave this place but i´m taking off this weekend for the farm. what´s becoming more clear to me is the need to cultivate the energy for making a home everywhere i am. i feel like the more i practice this, the more it becomes something inside of me. i don´t know, maybe it already is. as long as i can know home, it will be good.
ps please watch this video and know that it´s my new boss. in fact, watch it twice. i am leaving sunday.
