my friend ana and i went to la feria last night, which has been going on since i got here. we talked with argentinians who were juggling fire. my first conversation mostly in spanish. i had a minor freakout the other morning when this kid from NC asked me what i was running from. it was more than that, it was a good challenging conversation about practicality versus just wandering. i guess i have to understand that i have my reasons for doing what i´m doing and they are valid as any. and when it´s time to go back, i will do that too. the unknown is just a little intimidating. but when i meet people who live off of their craft and travel just because, i make more sense to myself. lo que ser...
the colors are so bright here. my friend ana has a place right on the water. when i woke up this morning, the sea was blowing through her window and i just laid in a hammock and fell in and out of sleep. the water looks turquoise and all the buildings are painted bright colors. mixed with grass huts. the jungles are full of magnificent sounds, especially at night. leaf cutter ants and geckos are everywhere. once in awhile, you might see an iguana or a monkey or a sloth. it still hits me some moments that i am actually here. the sky looks different. the smells are different. i dont think i ever want to wear shoes again. ana and i played backgammon in el parque yesterday for three hours with a bottle of wine and a few rastas. the spanish keeps on coming..
